Here is Part 2 of the Arcanoweave doily! Incanter's Insight continues where Part 1 left off, starting with Round 9 and ending at Round 19. This section adds some texture to the doily by working around the posts of certain stitches. The thread I'm using is Aunt Lydias size 10 cotton crochet thread in the colors purple and wood violet.
This pattern is divided into 7 parts with optional instructions for changing colors. At the end of Parts 1-6 you can stop and still have a finished doily or continue onto the next section. Each section increases slightly in difficulty.

Blocking and Finishing
It is optional but recommended to block your finished piece. Fill a bowl with water and add some liquid starch if you prefer the doily to be lightly stiffened. Soak the doily and gently press out any excess liquid, being careful not to pull or twist on the stitches. Lay it flat on a blocking mat and pin the doily working from the center out to the edges. Allow the doily to dry completely before removing the pins.
Round 9
Attaching the thread on Round 9 and making the first front post single crochet (FPSc)
Step 1- With the wrong side of your work facing up, insert hook around post of any center dc of the 7-dc group on Round 7.
Step 2- Pick up a loop of the thread you are joining and draw through.
Step 3- Ch 1.
Step 4- To make the first FPsc, insert hook around the post of the same dc and pick up a loop.
Step 5- Pull up a loop, there should be 2 loops now on the hook.
Step 6- yo and draw through both loops on the hook.
Finishing Round 9
Insert hook around the post of the next dc (same st as the first FPsc) and above the first FPsc and make the last FPsc. To make the last ch-5 space, ch 2 and dc in the first FPsc.
Round 10
Working with the right side of the doily facing up, ch 3 (counts as first dc), and make 6 dc in the same st (the dc of last ch-5 space made). [ch 3 and make 7 dc in the center ch of the next ch-5 space] around. To make the last ch-3 space- ch 1 and hdc in the third ch of the first dc.
Making the first FPdc on Round 11
Step 1- yo and insert hook around the post of the next dc.
Step 2- yo and pull up a loop, there should be 3 loops on the hook.
Step 3- yo and draw through 2 loops, 2 loops remaining on the hook.
Step 4- yo and draw through the last 2 loops on the hook.

ReplyDeleteVery stunning, thank you for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteThis is an really very beautiful pattern. And your instructions are very clear. Thank you for that. I hope you will create more nice doily's. Maybe an ovale one. Thank you ver much.
ReplyDeleteI have had so much fun on this so far. Very therapeutic and I love how "3D" it looks.
ReplyDeleteI did this part without the last row of picots. They were just so tiny that I was going cross-eyed, and I think they makes the edges look... tattered? I just love it otherwise, and I think the nicely curved scalloped edges look great as-is.
Please tell me how I can make this larger
ReplyDeleteHello! I love this pattern. Do you recommend blocking each part before starting with the next or blocking it once after all the three parts are completed?
ReplyDeleteOnde está a segunda parte desta peça, depois da 11º carreira?
ReplyDeleteI am stuck at row 9. It says 96FPsc but I always come out to 128 FPsc. After counting the stitches in the picture as best I can, I also see roughly 128 FPsc. If its 8 FPsc per 7 dc, that would be 128 as 16X8 is 128. Or am I missing something?
