These washcloths are quick and fun to make! The back section is 4 rounds and the front is 6 rounds. They measure about 6". I used Red Heart scrubby cotton in the colors lavender, caribbean, tranquil print, calm print, and denim. The front color is tan. - Red Heart scrubby cotton in 2 colors
- 5.5 mm (I) hook
Special Stitches-
beg shell- (ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in st indicated
shell- (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in st indicated
picot- ch 2, sl st in second ch from hook
picot- ch 2, sl st in second ch from hook
Instructions-
Back
Round 1
With color 2, ch 4, 11 dc in fourth ch from hook, sl st in third ch of first dc (12 dc)
Round 2
ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in same st, [2 dc in next dc] around, sl st in first dc (24 dc)
Round 3
ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next dc, [2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc] around, sl st in first dc (36 dc)
Round 4
beg shell in same st, sk next 2 dc, [shell in next dc, sk next 2 dc] around, sl st in first dc, fasten off (48 dc and 12 ch-2 spaces)
Front
With color 1, chain 2
Round 1
6 sc in second chain from hook, sl st in first sc
Round 2
ch 1, sc in same st, ch 2, [sc in next sc, ch 2] around, sl st in first sc (6 sc and 6 ch-2 spaces)
Round 3
ch 1, sc in same st, ch 2, sc in next space, ch 2, [sc in next sc, ch 2, sc in next space, ch 2] repeat 4 times, sc in next sc, ch 2, sc in next space, ch 1, sc in first sc to make last ch-2 space (12 sc and 12 ch-2 spaces)
Round 4
ch 1, sc in same space, ch 3, [sc in next space, ch 3] repeat 10 times, sc in next space, ch 1, hdc in first sc to make last ch-3 space (12 sc and 12 ch-3 spaces)
Round 5
ch 1, sc in same space, ch 4, [sc in next space, ch 4] repeat 10 times, sc in next space, ch 1, dc in first sc to form last ch-3 space (12 sc and 12 ch-4 spaces)
Round 6
Place the front over the back wrong sides together and right sides facing out.
Insert hook in the space on the front and between any 2 shells on the back and make a sl st (shown in the photos and steps below)
1- Insert hook into the space just made on the front
2- Then through the space between any 2 shells on the back
3- yarn over and pull through both spaces and loop on hook
4- slip stitch complete
Now working in the shell stitches on the back, sc in next 2 dc, (sc, picot, sc) in center space of the shell, sc in next 2 dc
[insert hook into next ch-4 space on the front and between next 2 shells on the back and make a sl st, sc in next 2 dc on the back, (sc, picot, sc) in center space of the shell, sc in next 2 dc] around, sl st in the first sl st
If you would like to add a loop for hanging, chain 12 (or until its the desired length) and sl st in the first sl st. Fasten off and weave in ends.

ReplyDeleteI love these! I found some cotton scrubbie yarn that happened to pop up out of my yarn stash as it sometimes does. I found your pattern on ravelry and have made some of your doilies before. These are beautiful and work well! I'm having fun using different colors that I totally forgot I even had and they have all looked nice. My favorite is verigated underneath and neutral on top.
