Blocking and Finishing
It is optional but recommended to block your finished piece. Fill a bowl with water and add some liquid starch if you prefer the bookmark to be lightly stiffened. Soak and gently press out any excess liquid, being careful not to pull or twist on the stitches. Lay it flat on a blocking mat and pin the bookmark, starting from one end and working to the other. Allow it to dry completely before removing the pins.
Cut a piece of ribbon about 9" to 10" long and starting on back weave the ribbon between each tr, or trtr stitch of the foundation row. Fold each end of the ribbon in half and cut on a diagonal. To prevent fraying place a few drops of fray lock glue to the ribbon ends.
Chart for ribbon sizes 1/4" and 3/8"
For ribbon sizes 1/4" and 3/8"
Foundation Row
1- ch 59.
2- skip 9 chs and tr in 10th ch from the hook, and tr in the next ch also. This extra tr is for weaving in the ribbon.
3- ch 2, skip next 2 ch, tr in the next ch.
4- Repeat step 3 across (15 more times). There should be 18 tr and 16 ch-2 spaces, and the 9 skipped chains make a ch-9 space at the other end of the row.
Round 1
1- ch 1, working around the last tr made, make a sc
2- make 4 more sc around same tr. (5 sc)
3- ch 3, working in the next ch-2 space of the foundation make 3 sc. (8 sc, 1 ch-3 space)
Continue the round with-
[sc in free loop of next ch (same chain as the tr on the opposite side), 2 sc in next ch-2 space] 15 times, sc in free loop of each of next 2 ch, [2 sc, ch 3, 7 sc, ch 3, 2 sc] in next ch-9 space, sc in each of next 2 trtr, [2 sc in next ch-2 space, sc in next trtr] 15 times, 3 sc in next ch-2 space.
4- Finish by making a dc in the first sc of the round. This dc stitch makes the last ch-3 space.
If your work curls like this it's normal and should be fine once blocked-

I am going to make these for RAOK. I really like the option of just printing out the pattern directions. I understand that some people need the step by stop photo tutorial but I do not. A lot patterns only offer that option and then I have to print several pages of instructions.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Short, sweet project and easy to follow.
ReplyDeleteI think I found a typo under the photo tutorial section of the 1/4" and 3/8" Round 1 instructions point 3, after continue the round: "[2 sc, ch 3, 7 sc, ch 3, 2 sc] in next ch-9 space" should be ch3, 5 sc, ch 3. Your photos and chart are correct, but the 7sc doesn't mirror the 5sc on the other end of the bookmark.
thank you for sharing this pattern hope all your crocheting goes well :D
ReplyDeleteI love all your patterns. I’ve already used 3 of your snowflakes for my annual that I put in Christmas cards every year. Thank you
